Product Description
The design goal of Shurhold's Dual Action Polisher was to allow users to achieve the same high gloss, professional finish that the pros do with a rotary buffer/polisher, but in a unit that less-experienced, everyday users can operate with the same effectiveness. Traditional rotary polishers have a larger wheel spinning at a high RPM, which means the operator's technique is important as to avoid burns and swirls. The Shurhold polisher's dual-action, 6-inch oscillating head eliminates these issues and allows anyone to get the same great finish without burns or swirls. General detail maintenance like waxing and buffing can now be done in half the time, with half the effort and half the amount of product. Standout features include: the quick change pads with Velcro backing, the GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) that cuts off power to the unit should it become submerged or shorted by water, and the addition of a 20-foot power cord with no stubby pigtail. The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) liked this product so much that they awarded it top honors with an innovation award at the 2009 MAATS (The Marine Aftermarket Accessories Trade Show) in the category: Boat Care, Coatings, Chemicals and Maintenance Tools. This polisher comes with a canvas bag, PU quick-change Velcro backing plate, wrench, D handle, and a carbon brush. (Note: Pads are sold separately.)

I am highly satisfied with it.There are two negatives as I see it: it's heavy and I don't like the feel of the on-off switch. I'm willing to overlook both as ruggedness follows weight and the switch is a purely individual choice.Buy that cheap buffer for your brother in law but buy this one for yourself. It made quick work of buffing my boat's gelcoat and removing the oxidation; no swirl marks and no burning. Speaking of boats, you won't get electrocuted with the buffer gets wet; there is built in GFCI protection.

Is it a commericial one, no, but it's as close as you need if you are doing any boat under 65 feet in length. I've used it on my car, truck, motorcycle and boats. It doesnt burn or make swirl marks. I compounded and waxed my boat in september of 2010. It was mistakenly not shrink wrapped at the boat yard (yeh I was about it too)....however, I rinsed the boat off and this polisher applied the wax so well that is looks like it did when I bought it there. It is a bit heavy, but what do you expect, its high quality. It's nice having the two different handles as I switch them when doing different parts of the boat. Your vessel will look as though it was professionally done if you follow the directions and use a quality compound and wax. It's dual action which makes it nearly impossible to swirl the job, as many do if they are using a Mikita or other professional system as they are difficult to use if you don't know what you're doing. It's gonna look good because that's what this is, a professional tool at a reasonable price. I didnt get mine from Amazon, I paid $160 for it and it's worth every penny and more. It will make quick work of any job and the cord is incredibly long which is awesome. Enough....buy this one, you won't regret it.
8 of 8 people found the following review helpful.Bought this at the end of last summer to clean and polish the hull of my boat. Previously I was using good, old fashioned elbow grease. You know, there is a lot of hull on the bottom of a boat (ANY boat) and this polisher made that job a whole lot easier. The pads secure quickly and easily via Velcro and do not slip. The polisher provides adjustable speeds, depending on what you are doing. It appears to be very well built, sturdy and not too heavy. It does get tiring after a while holding this thing up against the bottom hull of a boat, but it was sure easier than doing it all by hand. Glad I bought this and hopes it last for years.
