6 of 7 people found the following review helpful.I was lucky enough to get this on a black Friday sale (less 20%), from Amazon. They have seasonal sales as well. The shipping was extremely quick and my fears of some seasonal delivery person dropping this over the 5' fence were allayed when UPS man actually opened the gate and placed it on the bench outside our door. I mention this because the buffer has extremely long shafts each side of the motor and just one "drop" could bend the shaft and ruin it. I immediately set the motor up and visually tested the shafts for trueness and vibration. 100% good. Before buying the Eastwood, I looked at Harbor Freight's unit (bad reviews); Grizzly's (good customer service), and several others on online sites, (even the super pricey US Baldors). Eastwood has a video on their site showing the 1hp unit in action. That sort of sold me. As well as knowing that I'll be able to get accessories down the road. The buffer is fairly heavy. I think the box said 65 lbs....so you won't be taking it on a date. The threaded part of the shafts is 3/4",... (important to know when buying buffs). I bought the 2 speed unit in case I have to buff plastic or some metal that needs the slower speed. Bear in mind you'll need a stand and of course, buff wheels (10" recommended, Eastwood sells a pack of buffs and compounds). I adapted an old 45 lb Delta lathe outboard stand as a base, using a 2" floor flange at the top and bolting a 1-1/2" ply tabletop, (similar to Grizzly H7763). The unit runs smoothly and vibration free. I have yet to get it real hot as the motor is totaly enclosed (TEFC). At this point...5 Stars!
