1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.I did not purchase this product but did purchase the buffer alone. It came with a two-pack of buffer bonnets. The original bonnets worked okay but replacements I have purchased have been near to worthless. Much too big and floppy. The buffer itself is pretty lightweight and easy to handle with one hand, several holding positions are comfortable, give some relief over long use. I used mine to polish and wax a sailboat and then recently my car. My experience would suggest that the boat was a good use, the car not so. Instructions clearly state that buffer should not be run unless in contact with a surface and this is so. Lifting it from a surface before turning it off can result in the bonnet flying off. The first time I did this with the boat I watched the bonnet quickly sink into the murky depths. My reticence with the car, so I would not recommend this package just because of the buffer, is that less than pretty much full surface contact is similar to no contact. The surface of my car has many concave sections and small or thin sections so the buffer was not in complete contact. It does not do well using just the edge for a small or thin section. Several times the bonnet actually wound itself further into the holding space and jammed the buffer, then came out pretty oily/greasy so I am concerned I have removed some of the "permanent" lubrication. The boat, picture a long hull, was a much flatter surface so less likely to do this. Because it is so light I was able to use it for long periods of time, trading hands for relief, but with relatively little fatigue. Another review elsewhere suggested that complaints of others about the buffer were really more related to the over-sized and floppy bonnets. I would agree. That reviewer suggested buying Turtle wax bonnets at Wal-Mart. I did that, less expensive than the Ryobi bonnets, fit better, and worked much better. I have been completely unable to find a replacement pad for the buffer which is now showing some wear. Actually I came across this produce searching for a source for replacement pads. Right now it looks like the only way to get a replacement pad is to buy a new buffer...and it is apparently discontinued at Home Depot. I would go 4-5 stars for use with a boat, but only 3 for the car...unless maybe you have a big old behemoth with massive large flat sections.
